Owning/Managing Organization: Ashland Community & Technical College
The fair is open to students in grades 4-12 in public, parochial, or home-based schools in Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, and Lawrence Counties, KY. Students may participate by entering a school fair and progressing to the ACTC/FIVCO Fair if selected as a representative of that school. Each school may submit 3 projects. Students enrolled in FIVCO area schools that do not have a fair may enter a project, but the 3 project per school limit still applies. Each home school may enter one project per grade level as an individual or team.
Students may complete a project in one of the following categories:
- Biomedical & Behavioral Health Sciences
Behavioral & Social Sciences
Cell & Molecular Biology
Medicine & Health
- Animal, Plant, & Environmental Sciences
- Math, Engineering, & Computer Science
Environmental Computer Science
Environmental, Materials, Bio, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering
Energy & Transportation
- Physics & Astronomy
All project exhibits should contain the following elements:
*Visual display (i.e. poster board; may include videos and photographs)
*Record (data) notebook
*All necessary approval forms

The fair takes place on Feb. 3, 2017 at Ashland Community & Technical College - Technology Drive Campus.
Students will be grouped into three grade categories: grades 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Project category awards will be presented in each grade category. Special awards will be awarded in select project category areas.
The top 2 Best Overall projects for grades 4-5 will be automatically registered for the Regional Science and Engineering Fair of Northern Kentucky held at NKU on Feb. 25, 2017.
1st and 2nd Place award winning projects in each project category for grades 6-8 and 9-12 will be automatically registered for the Regional Science and Engineering Fair of Northern Kentucky held at NKU on Feb. 25, 2017.
