NKY MakerSpace is located in Burlington, Kentucky, on Boone County Fairgrounds. NKY MakerSpace is a regional program serving K-12 students through field trips, workshops and internships. It was made possible through a partnership between Leadership NKY Class of 2015 and Boone County Schools. Through generous support from our sponsors, Kentucky's first kid-focused MakerSpace has come to life and is open for field trips, after-school events, super Saturdays and summer camps.
NKY MakerSpace was a dream of two Boone County Schools robotics teams - the Jr Brainy Bots and the Brainy Bots, but it was only through the dedication and work of LNK 2015 that the dream was realized. Special thanks to the project co-chairs, Larry Luebbers and Claire Parsons for their commitment and dedication. The goal of NKY MakerSpace is to provide the students of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati the opportunity to learn through creation in a dedicated ‘Makerspace’.
Length of time will depend upon the activity/experience planned.
For the 2017/2018 school year, there will be a small fee associated with field trips to maintain all technologies at NKY MakerSpace. Additionally, any consumables used during the experience will also be billed.
Students can come to NKY MakerSpace as part of a field trip with a teacher or independently as part of a summer camp or other event. Check the website for details about when specific opportunities are available.
Some field trips and/or events may have a 3D printed “giveaway.”
